Believed To Be Some Sort Of Monster
My basilisk is pretty straight forward.

I wanted the bases of my outfit (the leggings and top) to be one sleek pattern and tone, to represent the Basilisk's long, sleek body. I saved these leggins months ago with the intention of using for them for this exact set, and when I came across the top (which is actually a dress cut the bottom off of), it was perfect.

The skirt represents the Basilisk's scales, and the corset I threw on for the same reason. I wanted everything to look armored and strong, like the snake's thick exterior.

The necklace is for the row of spikes and thick scales around the back of the Basilisk's head. The shoe is for the same.

To represent the Basilisk's eyes, I chose gold glitter mascara for you to sweep on to the tips of your lashes, that way your stare can be just a deadly as the King Of Serpents'. ;)
To Walk Palely Where Their Living Selves Once Trod
Jo's description of ghosts states that ghosts's are silver-gray in color, but I found concept art for The Deathday Party from COS (the film) that had a slightly blue tint to it, and instantly fell in love with it. I took those images (seen at top) and stills from the films and edited them to create and exaggerate that blue effect.

For my outfit, I created a dress made out of two dresses and one top. The ghosts wardrobes from the film are extremely dimensional and layered, and that's the effect I was going for. I also mirrored the antique fabrics they wear (most of them have been dead for centuries, remember).

All of the ghosts wear a coat of some sort, so of course I had to add one. I chose silver to stay true to Jo's description, plus it looks pretty fabulous with that dress. ;)

I had some fun with the shoes, and I think they're a little bit ironic and funny, which adds some more character to this outfit. The rings and necklace are inspired off of The Wailing Widow (third photo on the top, you can't miss her), or more specifically her bouquet.

The Lady Or The Tiger

The Lady Or The Tiger
Catwoman was pretty easy to do. I obviously wasn't trying to create her suit, but rather make a real life version thats wearable.

I went for a bodysuit for the top, because I thought it was a great alternative for a catsuit. I liked this one with the high neck because Selina's neckline is so high. The peek of skin makes it less-suffocating and the mock sweetheart top accentuates your feminine figure. And Catwoman is nothing without her feminine figure.

I put a leather legging over the top of the bodysuit, with a black crop jacket that is basically just sleeves. I wanted everything to be kept extremely sleek like her costume, and I think both of those definitely achieved that.

The boots might be my favorite piece of this whole set. I think they look so much like hers, just no shiny silver heel.

I added a thick black belt to represent Selina's, which is traditionally where she keeps her whip, which was absent from The Dark Knight Rises.

Of course I had to add gloves, because a cat burglar can't be leaving behind finger prints. I loved these because they double as jewelery with the jewels around the wrist.

And the very last thing is the diamond necklace, which you can wear over the top of the bodysuit or shoved down the front like Catwoman hiding her freshly stolen goodies. ;)

Sealed With A Kiss

Sealed With A Kiss
Poison Ivy is one of my favorite DC villains, male or female. I'm so thrilled with her New 52 design. It's my favorite Ivy look to date, and I based this set 100% off of it.

This is all pretty simple. My favorite feature of Ivy's look (aside from her gorgeous red hair. I've been dying my hair red for years, and this woman steps out of video game heaven with the most mind blowing hair I've ever seen...needless to say I'm copying it now.)...

Anywho, got side tracked from my most favorite feature...it's the vines running up her legs and arms. I represented this on her legs with those incredible leggings. The designs on them wraps around just like her vines do, and I couldn't be more ecstatic about them.

The dress in a nude/skin-tone color with green stripes winding up the dress in an hourglass shape was absolutely perfect. I feel like it represents her outfit (or more so lack-there-of an outfit!) really well, and in a way that is not going to get you kicked out of whatever fine establishment you're visiting...or fired.

I chose this red jacket over a cardigan or cropped blazer, because I feel like it makes the outfit more grown-up and polished. I love the way it clasps just under the bust. That can make even those of us (and yes, I AM meaning me specifically!) with little in the chest department look as curvacious as Ivy. :D

For the shoe I chose tall gladiator sandals. These are, again, for the vines wrapping up her legs.

The only jewelery I liked for Ivy is tons of green slightly aged and nature-inspired rings. Bracelets felt too heavy, and necklaces were a definite no.

Of course you can't forget your green nail polish (Poison Ivy is green everywhere you are slightly pink. Yes, even her nail beds!), and shiny red lip gloss.
You do give kisses sealed with venom, after all.

Let's Put A Smile On That Face
The Joker.

I started out with an outfit completely different from this, and very much a mirror image of his suit. By the time I got done with it I realized it was absolutely not wearable. So I had the sudden thought that Joker should definitely match the grungey styling of my Harley Quinn set. She IS his henchwoman, after all, and they need to compliment each other. ;)

I kept a couple of the basics of Joker's costume.
Instead of purple suit pants, I went for purple distressed jeans. Everything burns in Gotham under his watch (and usually by his very hand), and I think these jeans definitely look like they've been through the chaos with him.
I kept the green vest, but opted for a more casual one that doubles as a shirt instead of formal wear. Of course that purple bralet goes underneath it. ;)

I made the ultimate decision to throw out the purple coat, because this is already a LOT going on with the coloring and any purple jacket or coat would have rendered this entire thing unwearable.

Complete this look with those fabulous purple gloves and put a smile on your face with red lipstick and that eyeshadow palette. And I don't blame you one bit if you go all out and make your face look just like his. I'm tempted almost every day.

Gauranteed I'll Make You Smile

Gauranteed I'll Make You Smile
Harley Quinn. Harleen Quinzel.

This made me kind of nervous, because I definitely didn't want to mess this up or not get it right. This is my absolute favorite female villain of any and all universes, and the pressure of that from myself alone was a lot.

I worked on this extensively, and what I ended up with I could NOT be any happier about. :D I think I nailed Harley, did her as a character a lot of justice, and I definitely pleased myself with the way I styled her.

So, first off, I based my Harley Quinn off of her redesign for the New 52, in combination with her look from Arkham City. I know both have gotten a lot of bad press and a lot of people don't like 'em, but stylistically I pretty much love.
I also think its really funny how so many people are complaining that her new design "panders to the uneducated masses" or new-age comic book fans, and that she's been "overly sexualized." I mean, the woman wears a skin-tight latex suit, and you don't think that's "overly sexualized"? Just because you can't see skin doesn't mean you can't see everything. Think on that one.

The jeans I've taken from Harley's look (previous to the New 52 redesign) in Arkham City. I love that she's wearing a grungey sort of jean there. Actually her whole look is grunge, and that's what was sort of the launching pad for this outfit.
The mesh top, again, is grungey. It was important to me that Harley's top was long sleeved, because I really like her original outfit and how it covers her entire body. I put a red bralet top under it, which is totally self explanatory. ;)
The shoes I inspired off of her corsets in both Arkham City and the New 52.
Oh an the gloves! I'm pretty sure they were MADE for this chick. They look so like hers in her original design.

And you are definitely going to need that makeup to complete this look. What's Harley Quinn without her painted on face?

I'm Think I'm Gonna Be Sick

I'm Think I'm Gonna Be Sick
The one was pretty simple for me.

Whenever I hear, see, or read "Polyjuice Potion", the Chamber of Secrets version is what comes to mind. So that's what I based my set around. :)

The dress is actually inspired off of the page in Moste Potente Potions (second at the top). It's aged and weathered by continuous use. I thought the detailing on this dress definitely mirrored that pretty fantastically.

Second came the jacket, which is actually for the potion itself. It's said to look like "thick, dark mud that bubbles slowly", and I thought the jacket fit that description to a tee. ;)

The shoe is taken from the green color of Polyjuice Potion in the Chamber of Secrets film. I don't think that matches up too well with "dark mud", but I like it nonetheless and wanted it to have its representation here too.

The bag's inspiration came from the bathroom Hermione brews Polyjuice Potion in, more specifically those lovely sinks. (I wonder if the opening to the Chamber of Secrets itself is in that photo? Hmmm...) I love the shapes of those mirrors and the architecture work there is stunning, so I definitely wanted to incorporate that. I found this clutch and instantly knew it was perfect. It doesn't hurt that it also goes with the dress fantastically and has a bit of a green tint to some of the jewels.

Last is that flask necklace, so you can carry an emergency dose of Polyjuice Potion with you. How many complex tasks where you actually need to use such a potion are actually going to be completed in an hour?

I Am Necessary Evil

I Am Necessary Evil
Tonight I saw The Dark Knight Rises for the first time. And it sparked the desire to start a DC Comics collection. It's going to focus mainly (and maybe entirely) on villains. You have been warned.
These sets are going to be what I like to call "wearable extremes". I'm not going for costumes that you can only wear to Comic-Con, but these outfits definitely can't be worn to your local grocery store with out turning a few heads, either.

Bane is the most badass sick mind in the entire world. So of course I'm beginning with him.

The focus of this outfit is definitely that vest, based on Bane's armour/pain pump vest. I've been sitting on that thing for a few weeks, and once I started pulling images for this set it came into my mind. I pulled it, and it was PERFECT.
The rest of the outfit sort of shaped itself around that vest. I chose cargo skinnies in the same color and wash as the jacket Bane wears in the prison scene (thats the second photo on the top). It doesn't hurt that he spends the entire film actually wearing cargo pants...
I then chose a jacket that mirrored his, as well, because thats probably my favorite Bane look from the film.
Top that off (or bottom, perhaps) with those fabulous buckled boots, which actually look a lot like his boots from the film.
And no accessories. The only thing this man needs to travel with is his pain mask, a few semi-automatic weapons, and enough ammunition to supply a small army. All three are, in fact, illegal in most states. Of course if you were actually Bane that would be completely irrelevant...

You have my permission to look like a badass.
